Chris Ludwig

Chris Ludwig teaches science at La Junta High School and Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado. He is a molecular biologist and neuroscientist by training (University of Arizona and Washington University in St. Louis) but stopped studying mouse brains to tinker with the minds of students instead.

Chris launched his teaching career at Soldan International Studies High School in the St. Louis Public Schools.  He taught there for five years during which time he served as science department head and coordinator of the International Trade and Diplomacy Career Academy, an interdisciplinary school-within-a-school. He currently teaches several science courses at La Junta High School as well as the occasional summer course for the Otero Junior College Nursing Program.

Chris continues to be interested in technology and its power to place learning in the hands and minds of students. His blog, Science Education on the Edge, describes his attempts to transform his classroom to a student-centered learning environment using a combination of 1:1 technology, standards-based grading, and student portfolios.
