About Mr. Ludwig

Mr. Ludwig

Chris Ludwig teaches at La Junta High School in the East Otero School District and at Otero Junior College. He is a molecular biologist and neuroscientist by training (University of Arizona and Washington University in St. Louis) but stopped studying mouse brains to tinker with the minds of students instead.

Mr. Ludwig launched his teaching career at Soldan International Studies High School in the St. Louis Public Schools. He taught there for five years during which time he served as science department head and coordinator of the International Trade and Diplomacy Career Academy, an interdisciplinary school-within-a-school. He currently teaches several science courses at La Junta High School as well as the occasional summer course for the Otero Junior College Nursing Program.

Mr. Ludwig continues to be interested in technology and its power to place learning in the hands and minds of students. His blog, Science Education on the Edge, describes his attempts to transform his classroom to a student-centered learning environment using a combination of 1:1 technology, standards-based grading, and student portfolios.
